The HDC U12s are under the expert guidance of Coach Jon, who brings a wealth of experience and pedigree to the Development Centre. Having enjoyed a successful professional and semi-professional playing career, Jon transitioned into coaching through the United in the Community programme — a pathway that has shaped his philosophy and approach to youth development.
Jon joins HDC from Pegasus Juniors, where he led a highly successful junior side. His coaching journey has been influenced by some of the most respected names in English football, including Keith Downing, former England U20 manager and current Derby County assistant, and Dick Bate, the late former England Women’s coach and renowned FA educator. Their mentorship has helped Jon develop a coaching style that balances technical excellence with character-building — a perfect fit for the U12s.
Under Jon’s leadership, the team has shown remarkable growth

Steve has been involved in sport from a young age, starting with football before broadening into a range of other sports. This background has given him a strong understanding of athletic development, teamwork, and the importance of positive sporting environments.
Over the past four years, Steve has coached at Hereford Pegasus alongside Jon, the U12s manager, helping support a successful group that went unbeaten and won multiple cup competitions. He has also spent two seasons coaching in the Midland Junior Premier League (MJPL), gaining valuable experience in a highly competitive environment, including a top 20 finish in their first year.
Steve is currently coaching at the Hereford Development Centre and continues to build on his experience within youth football. He is keen to further his development through FA Talent Identification courses.
His coaching philosophy focuses on developing players both on and off the pitch, creating a fun but competitive environment where young players can grow, develop confidence, and enjoy their football.
